Event Sourcing. Microservices only?

Some time back i gave a brief presentation on Event Sourcing at Pune Microservices Meetup, a meetup on Microservices organized by my company Idyllic Software. I talked about what the technique of event sourcing is all about and though it is commonly associated with microservices , it can also be used within a monolith application structure and i delved a little on how it can be applied in a Rails application.
